The Edge
We all want to be competitive in everything we do. And no more so that with punting on horse racing.
Success in punting on horses, in fact most things reduces down to an information war - the people with the best information make the smart moves.
Books have been and still are the best source of general information, and this applies at least as much in the art of racehorse selection and staking as in any other field.
Author Paul Segar has produced textbooks which cover all aspects of punting. The books alone stand as a complete reference but also provide 'food for thought'. You can develop / improve your own ideas as well as learn some new techniques.
Each book is written in plain English with plenty of practical examples in each chapter. Browse the contents of each book or email for further information, if required.

Blue Diamond 2025
We were all set to preview one of the major racing events on the 2yo racing calendar, the 1200m Blue Diamond run at Caulfield on the 22nd February.
The club didn't do the punters any favors with the rail out 3m and clearly have empty watering cans with a concrete good 3 track. In a before scratchings 16 horse field, the post-race stewards report is likely to read like a chapter out of War and Peace.
Just as well we didn't waste your time or ours reading the report. The Golden Slipper is next on the agenda...

Here's the washup:

Basically the race panned out to getting into a position, rail out, super fast track with the winner doing this and holding on. The second horse probably should have won and is likely to win more races.
The market was basically a washout...

The last start sectional ratings did hardly better.

The second last start sectional rating had the second horse on top, but otherwise a big fat zero.
Previous years were a little better:
Blue Diamond 2024
Did a bit better last year with the trifecta in the top 5 and First Four in the top 6.

The Last Start Sectional Ratings confirmed the 4th placegetter.

The Second Last Start Sectional Ratings had the winner second top rater.

Blue Diamond 2023
The winner was in the top 2.
