The Edge

We all want to be competitive in everything we do. And no more so that with punting on horse racing.

Success in punting on horses, in fact most things reduces down to an information war - the people with the best information make the smart moves.

Books have been and still are the best source of general information, and this applies at least as much in the art of racehorse selection and staking as in any other field.

Author Paul Segar has produced textbooks which cover all aspects of punting. The books alone stand as a complete reference but also provide 'food for thought'. You can develop / improve your own ideas as well as learn some new techniques.

Each book is written in plain English with plenty of practical examples in each chapter. Browse the contents of each book or email for further information, if required.

Jokes

Everyone loves a good laugh. See how you go with these...

A man walks into a bar and sees a horse working as the bartender.

Intrigued, he sits down and orders a drink. The horse mixes the drink perfectly and slides it over to the man.

The man, amazed, says, "Wow, a horse bartender! That's incredible. How did you end up here?"

The horse replies, "Well, I used to be a racehorse, but I retired and decided to try something new. Turns out, I'm pretty good at mixing drinks."

The man nods, impressed, and they chat for a while.

Eventually, the man asks, "So, what's the secret to your success? How do you stay so calm and focused behind the bar?"

The horse leans in and whispers, "Well, it's all about the stirrups."

The man bursts out laughing, but then he notices a somber look on the horse's face. "What's wrong?" he asks.

The horse sighs and says, "I'm just worried about my brother. He's still in the racing business, and he's not doing so well."

The man, concerned, asks, "What's the problem?"

The horse shakes his head and says, "He's a-neigh-sayer. Always doubting himself. Thinks he'll never win a race."

The man chuckles and says, "Well, maybe he just needs a little encouragement. You know, a good pep talk to get him back on track."

The horse nods thoughtfully. "You're right. I'll talk to him. But honestly, I think he's just going through a rough trot."

The man laughs again and orders another drink.

As he's sipping it, he notices a picture on the wall of the horse winning a big race. "Hey, is that you?" he asks.

The horse looks up and smiles. "Yep, that's me. Won the Kentucky Derby a few years back. It was a 'mane' event in my life."

The man raises his glass.

"Well, here's to you, the most talented horse I've ever met!"

The horse grins and says, "Thanks! And remember, life's a race, but it's not always about the finish line. Sometimes, it's about enjoying the gallop."
